Performance

Hans Liska was an admirer of the performing arts. He frequently visited the 'Salzburger Festspiele' and even published a book with illustrations about them. He captured moments from Mozart’s 'Cosi Fan Tutte' to 'Don Giovanni' through to 'The Magic Flute'. Through Liska’s interpretations of these performances on paper, he captured the atmosphere and humour of those small and large moments that make those plays special.

Liska fell in love with Salzburg at the end of the 1950s and from then on attended the Salzburg Festival almost every year as a press illustrator. He skilfully captured the grandiose stage sets and character scenes in numerous lively sketches and drawings.

As an admirer of the performing arts, he also regularly attended many other major stage festivals such as Bayreuth and Oberammergau.
